Tractor Creates Amazing Sand Art on the Beach

August 8th, 2012 by Lina | No Comments | Filed in Design

Do you remember the amazing sand drawings by Andres Amador and Jim Denevan? This time, instead of using rakes or driftwood, Swedish artist Gunilla Klingberg decided to take it to the next level by using a tractor.

Gunilla attached a special star pattern made of tyre threads to a metal cylinder of the tractor that cleans Laga beach in Spain. Following the lunar and tidal calendar, the pattern is remade again and again at all possible days at low tide. “A Sign in Space” is performed on dates when the tidal calender is synchronized with the the beach cleaners early morning working schedule- the pattern is created on days when the low tide hour fits the labour working hours.

The project is a part of the international contemporary art project, Sense and Sustainability, which takes place from July 21 to September 23, 2012, at the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.

Stunning Sand Drawings by Andres Amador

March 21st, 2012 by Lina | No Comments | Filed in Design

San Francisco-area based landscape artist Andres Amador creates amazing large-scale sand paintings on beaches using only a rake and some help from volunteers.

“My dream is to do my artwork in locations around the world and to bring more people into the creative act with me,” says the artist.

We’ve already featured some Sand Drawings by Jim Denevan and Snow Paintings by Sonja Hinrichsen before, but it still amazes me how many hours are spent creating something so large yet impermanent as these beach drawings. According to Amador’s website, the artist and his pupils have only 2 hours to do their thing before the tide returns.

  • About us

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.

We are a new design group hoping to achieve great things
