What Happens When You Give Thousands of Stickers to Thousands of Kids

January 3rd, 2012 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

Ever wonder what would happen if you gave your kids thousands of stickers and complete freedom?

Then you have to see these cool pictures taken in the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane. Artist Yayoi Kusama recreated Australian domestic environment, complete with locally sourced furniture and ornamentation, all of which has been painted completely white to serve as a giant white canvas. The museum’s smallest visitors were then given thousands of colored dot stickers and invited to transform the space.

As with many of Kusama’s works, the current installation entitled The Obliteration Room is “disarmingly simple in its elemental composition; however, it brilliantly exploits the framework of its presentation”. It is also part of Kusama’s Look Now, See Forever exhibition running trough March 12.

Your Rainbow Panorama: A Giant 360° Colorful Rooftop Walkway in Denmark

November 25th, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

Have you ever wanted to walk on a rainbow? Then you should visit “Your Rainbow Panorama” by Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. It is a circular colored glass walkway that sits atop the ARoS art museum in Aarhus, Denmark and gives its visitors a 360° colorful view of the city. This unique rooftop is 150 meters long, 3 meters wide and 3 meters high, has a diameter of 52 meters and is mounted on slender columns 3.5 meters above the roof surface of the museum.

“Your rainbow panorama enters into a dialogue with the existing architecture and reinforces what is assured beforehand, that is to say the view of the city. I have created a space which virtually erases the boundaries between inside and outside – where people become a little uncertain as to whether they have stepped into a work or into part of the museum. This uncertainty is important to me, as it encourages people to think and sense beyond the limits within which they are accustomed to moving,” says the artist.

  • About us

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.
