36 More Perfectly Timed Photos

August 20th, 2012 by Lina | No Comments | Filed in Design

Last time we asked you to send in the best “perfectly timed photos” you’ve taken during your photography career or seen on the Internet. Thank you to all the pandas who have emailed and posted all these funny pictures in our comment section!

As we talked before, you may be the best photographer in the world, but sometimes all it takes to take the best shot is being in the right place at the right moment. It doesn’t even matter if you take it with your cell or high-end DSLR. Often, you won’t even notice you made an incredible picture until you come home and transfer your photos to a computer.

However, that doesn’t mean you should stop improving your photography skills and just wait for that one and only moment. As a popular saying goes:

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

So be prepared for it and be lucky! Here are 36 more perfectly timed photos to get you inspired.

36 Strange and Funny Google Street View Photos

August 13th, 2012 by Tomas | No Comments | Filed in Design

We wanted to post these awesome Google Street View photos a long time ago, but somehow they got lost along the way. Luckily, I found them while reading Twisted Sifter. We tried our best to find more cool examples of Google Street View images, however almost every source was pointing to Jon Rafman.

Montreal based artist Jon Rafman isn’t the original photographer but instead he explores Google Street Views and takes screenshots of the most unusual and funny sights. The original images were taken by an army of Google’s hybrid electric automobiles, each one equipped with nine cameras on a single pole trying to photograph every highway and byway in the world.

“The world captured by Google appears to be more truthful and more transparent because of the weight accorded to external reality, the perception of a neutral, unbiased recording, and even the vastness of the project,”  said Jon in his interview to Art Fag City.

“With its supposedly neutral gaze, the Street View photography had a spontaneous quality unspoiled by the sensitivities or agendas of a human photographer. It was tempting to see the images as a neutral and privileged representation of reality—as though the Street Views, wrenched from any social context other than geospatial contiguity, were able to perform true docu-photography, capturing fragments of reality stripped of all cultural intentions.”

Without further ado, here are 36 strangest and funniest Google Street View photos from Jon Rafman’s collection with a couple of our own finds.

Shake: Dogs Caught In Motion by Carli Davidson

September 8th, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

If you are a dog (or look like one) and you’re looking for a photographer, look no further!

Carli Davidson is both an internationally recognized award winning photographer and an experienced animal trainer and caretaker. Based out of Portland, Oregon, she is able to capture the innate personalities of her subjects using her professional understanding of animal behavior. She is a freelance photographer for the Oregon Zoo, and works regularly with domestic animals both commercially and personally for her fine art projects.

Carli spends much of her shoots rolling on the ground with her subject, getting in their skin as much as possible and encouraging them to open up to the camera. For her series “Shake“, pet photographer Carli photographed dogs shaking off water to create distorted expressions like half-grimace, half-smiles that are familiar to many dog owners, but when caught on camera, the dogs look incredibly strange and funny.

  • About us

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.

We are a new design group hoping to achieve great things

    Meet some of our friends.
