5-Year-Old Posing As the Most Influential Women in History

May 15th, 2013 by Tomas | No Comments | Filed in Design

Photographer Jaime Moore was looking for inspirational ideas to celebrate her daughter Emma’s 5th birthday, and ended up photographing her beautiful girl posing as some of the most influential women in history. Jaime chose 5 women for Emma to impersonate, and thus her daughter became the mini version of Coco Chanel, Susan B. Anthony, Amelia Earhart, Helen Keller and Jane Goodall.

“I had been searching everywhere for new-creative inspiration for her 5yr pictures. I noticed quite a pattern of so many young girls dressing up as beautiful Disney Princesses. It started me thinking about all the REAL women for my daughter to know about and look up too, REAL women who without ever meeting Emma have changed her life for the better,” says Jaime. “I wanted her to know the value of these amazing women who had gone against everything so she can now have everything. So let’s set aside the Barbie Dolls and the Disney Princesses for just a moment, and let’s show our girls the REAL women they can be,” she explained.

50 Mind-Blowing Examples of Landscape Photography

June 28th, 2012 by Tomas | No Comments | Filed in Design

How many of you have an expensive camera collecting dust instead of making photos? If you have the same problem like me, then you need some inspiration!

That’s why I want to show you a breathtaking collection of landscape photography. Hopefully, these pictures will be enough to get you moving (if not, you can put your camera on Ebay – you don’t need it anyway).

But before you go out to take pictures, don’t forget that an important element of landscape photography is the light to the scenery. It’s best to take photos at dusk or dawn with low angle light. This light renders the landscape with low contrast and sidelight giving a nice feeling of depth. Also, low contrast allows to capture more details.

Unfortunately, the perfect light goes away very quickly, so be sure to find the right angle in advance. When you’re done, come back and post your results in our comment section!

Deer Pylons

March 9th, 2012 by Tomas | No Comments | Filed in Design

This cool concept of deer-shaped pylons was created by DesignDepot, a design studio located in Moscow. They look so much better than the usual ones, but the manufacturing costs would probably be too high to make it happen.

Moon Games by Laurent Laveder

February 2nd, 2012 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

You may have already seen some of these cute images from ‘Moon Games’ project before, but we just couldn’t resist sharing some more. The author of this project is a French landscape astrophotographer and astronomy journalist Laurent Laveder who shows how some simple props and a bit of imagination can turn the moon into anything you like.

Moon Games has also been published as a small book in France:

“We have asked 19 authors to choose a picture each among a selection of photos. Then they had to write a short text in the style they wanted. Finally, Sabine (my grilfriend with who I conceive these Moon games, and the woman in the pictures), who is a graphic artist, has transformed the texts to calligrams. The different profiles of each author have leaded to a great variety for each picture, sometime funny, touching, poetic, sensual, etc.”

Harmless Weapons by Kyle Bean

January 26th, 2012 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

While the name of the artist may sound unfamiliar to many, I’m sure most of you have already seen Kyle’s amazing collection of Pencil Shaving Portraits or the famous Chicken made from eggshells. This time, Brighton-based designer Kyle Bean created a collection of harmless weapons for an article in CUT Magazine centered around the topic of ‘Guerrilla Gardening’ and ‘Yarn Bombing’.

Personally, my favorite one is the feather knife as the feather perfectly matches the size and the shape of the knife while at the same time being completely harmless. Other weapons are also great, and you just can’t not love the minimalism and clever selection of the background colors!

Kyle Specializes in hand crafted models, set design and art direction, and since graduating in 2009, he has worked across a variety of platforms including installations, window displays, editorial and advertising.

  • About us

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.

We are a new design group hoping to achieve great things

    Meet some of our friends.
