November 22nd, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

I always thought that long exposure photography was overdone to death and not even worth doing. That’s why I have never experimented with it much, but I still wanned to do a little research and make a collection of best Long Exposure Photography Examples.

I soon found out that I was wrong. It may be overdone, but good shots are incredibly rare and hard to find (this could also be due to my lack of searching skills). So my advice to you (and even to myself) – don’t be turned off by the fact that everybody does it! Only few guys do it right.

Now, before you grab your camera and go out to take those beautiful long exposure shots, you may need some inspiration! So here are 30 Amazing Examples of Long Exposure Photography to get your creative juices flowing.

P.S.: when you come back, don’t forget to share your results in the comment section!

Amazing Long Exposure Photos of Air Traffic

September 23rd, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

Photographer Terence Chang took these fascinating long exposure photos in the skies above San Francisco International Airport. This is a similar technique as the one we’ve seen in Surreal Skatepark Light Paintings, called light drawing in which exposures are made usually at night or in a darkened room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. Surreal Skatepark Light Paintings

September 23rd, 2010 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

Hey pandas, let’s meet another super creative artist -  Ben Matthews (actually, he’s a dentist!), and see what happens when you skate at night with some lights on.

The technique he uses is called light painting, also known as light drawing or light graffiti. It is a photographic technique in which exposures are made usually at night or in a darkened room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. In many cases the light source itself does not have to appear in the image. The term light painting also encompasses images lit from outside the frame with hand-held light sources. The first known photographer to use this technique was Man Ray in his series “Space Writing”. [1].

“I’m a dentist with a seemingly abundant amount of time to dedicate to photography. I hope you like them. I’ve been taking photos for about 9 years, and been taking them more seriously for about 5 years. i go through phases in my photography, depending on what i’m inspired by, and toys i particular need/want. right now i think i’m at the end of a light painting phase, but we’ll see…” (ben matthews :::)

  • About us

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.

We are a new design group hoping to achieve great things
