Hidden Messages on Dollar Bills by Dan Tague

August 22nd, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

We’ve already seen artists using money to create Cool Dollar Bill Origami, and you’ve probably already noticed that lately there has been an increase in innovative currency-related artworks. It may be due to the decreasing value of dollar, but most probably it’s because there’s something magic about money – it’s power to buy things, feed the starving ones and even cause wars.

This time, we want to show you another creative way to use your bills – it’s similar to origami, but with a little twist. New Orleans-based artist Dan Tague folds a dollar bill as many as 100 times, until it spells out an unexpected phrase, including “We Need A Revolution” and “Trust No One.” He photographs the origami currency on a black background and prints the photos in a large format (large enough that the Treasury Department can’t accuse him of counterfeiting). Tague’s themes are protest, American history and, of course, money. [1]

  • About us

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.
