Do you remember Israeli illustrator Noma Bar and his clever negative space art we posted earlier?

Malaysian illustrator Tang Yau Hoong also uses negative space to create fascinating illustrations that make you stop and think for a while. His works may look simple at first glance, but actually they are complicated puzzles that take some time to understand.

If you like them, you can even buy creative t-shirts with his negative space illustrations and give your friends headaches when they try to figure out the meaning behind them.

Negative Space Art by Noma Bar

November 1st, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

Israeli illustrator Noma Bar cleverly uses negative space to create some thought provoking illustrations. His artworks are so simple, yet so clever you can’t fail to be impressed.

“An artist using “negative space” relies on the space that surrounds the subject to provide shape and meaning. Of course, the term also refers to any topic that conjures feelings of unease and discomfort,” says the artist in his latest book called ‘Negative Space’.

Born in 1973 in Israel, Noma graduated from Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in 2000. Since 2001, he has been working in London with a lot of big names and media outlets including: Vodafone, Coca Cola, BBC, The Observer, The Economist, Wallpaper and many more. Bar has illustrated over sixty magazine covers, published over 550 illustrations and released two books: ‘Guess Who – The Many Faces of Noma Bar‘, in 2008 and ‘Negative Space‘ in early 2009[1].

  • About us

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.

We are a new design group hoping to achieve great things
