Walk of Faith: Glass Pavement for Tourists Built on 4,690ft Mountain in China

November 30th, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

I get vertigo just looking at it, but if you have nerves of steel, then you should definitely try out this newly built glass walkway in China, called the Walk of Faith.

I hope the glass is as thick as the Popemobile’s because this Glass Plank Road has been added 1,430 metres (4,690ft) up the Zhangjiajie Tianmen mountain. The translucent floor guarantees the tourists some unforgettable sightseeing experiences.

The mountain is very popular with tourists and is located in the Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park, five miles south of Zhangjiajie Village in the Hunan province.

Would you like to take the walk of faith?

Translucent Ants Eating Colored Liquids

August 17th, 2011 by Bored Panda | No Comments | Filed in Design

They say you are what you eat, and it’s especially true with the translucent ants. Scientist Mohamed Babu from Mysore, India, placed specially colored sugar drops in his garden to attract the weird insects his wife found near the house sipping the spilled milk.

“The idea for the photograph came to me after my wife showed me some ants that turned white sipping the spilled milk drops on our kitchen counter,” says Mohamed.

Some of the ants would even move from one color to another resulting in new color combinations in their stomachs.

It was in the back corner of McDonalds with a couple of hours to wait for a train home to Norwich, that theDot first came together. Freshly inspired by a weekend at the 4designers conference in London and having traipsed around museums and exhibitions all day, three minds came together over chicken burgers and chips.

The three are currently studying Graphic Communication at Norwich University College of the Arts, where they delve into advertising, corporate branding, design for publishing, photography, illustration and so on. All confident in their skills, but continuing on their learning journey.
